Hakee Leonce Project 1 Reflecton

After looking back through my project proposal, my reflection on how it came out is that I am extremely satisfied with the end result. Speaking in regards to its creativity and individuality and it was able to take principles and concepts from both technical labs and project proposal and morphed into a report that reaches a wide spectrum of audience while maintaining its technical and formal integrity. It is formal but in a very simplistic form and this was accomplished by my time put in studying formal proposal and reports to understand their purpose. Once that was in my head it took critical thinking mixed with creativity to create a proposal that shares characteristics of a technical report.

Now, with the formatting, while it was hard to derive a setup to accomplish both proposal and report, I believe that my report is very clear in differentiating between subcategories and why it holds a place in the overall published report. With all this said, this technical report looks like an A+ due to the finished product and the unspoken time and effort put in to making it presentable and if I may add pretty informative to the reader.

I believe it deserves an A

Project #2 Reflection

Good:

  • Detailed process information
  • Professional jargon
  • Basic enough for general public to understand
  • Specific step by step to get you from liquid cement to solid properly made concrete
  • Went a step further to show the two specific procedures of making the same product
  • Showed reader the benefits that comes with knowing how the two type of processes can better you knowledge for making the choice of which one you should choose for your construction projects
  • Mention all steps needed in a professional manner that is shared amongst most to all construction companies

Bad:

  • Lack of resource
  • Visual representation was hard to get with professional representation of the steps
  • Maybe for the readers how would have liked a more in depth explanation of the process, I could have done more

Grade deserved: A

In my opinion the future of technology has a cap, which I believe to be the capabilities and needs of human lives. As we try to make AI has humanly as possible, we are trying to give them as much purpose as humans. The unique part is humans and born with purpose and AI has to be programmed with purpose. So, at some point we must realize the only way you can be a living thing, is to be a living thing. So for me, I see technology is as inauthentic as can be. It is taking the real thoughts, behavior, experiences, and word of humans and are programmed to use it as data to be as real as they possibly can be.

I feel like tech can only be as real as we make it to be.

This was a really good read to someone like me, who always questioned the way people lessen the social impact of advertisements. The points made by Laura Carroll about social media being a place that requires rhetorical analysis were very well stated. She placed a focused lens on how with a unaware mind the consistent selling, persuading and manipulating can easily control the things you see. When she acknowledge the facts of advertisement will fabricate an popular image that is desired by the public to show of their product will be the reason for you obtain whatever you want. It’s even crazier because most of the time of misguided information that has no true connection that is blurred by social aesthetics.

In my own life, there was a time where i was in a deep rabbit hole of watching shopping. Since in this day and age, our cookies are stored and studied to know what’s best to show you in the future. So there came a point where I kinda grew closer and closer to buying a specific want. It was a stainless steel gold with a blue face interior and i went back onto m instagram page and just on time, I had at least 4 sponsored pages make their way to my profile feed. It was not like pages I follow or even related photos that I like, but it was the fact that I searched it on googled that instagram knew what it was that I needed to see to get me to think it is convenience rather than manipulative advertisement. For me, it was the fact that i took a second to question why is it that now so many watches are at my fingertip even though I have been wanting it for so long now. Knowing that it was just the fact that the internet knew I placed a watch in a shopping cart on a website to now take the opportunity to make purchasing as easy as they can, to persuade me to buy buy.

When I first seen this episode it made me give a second thought of what social media has evolved to over time. How it became not only so powerful but also a ruler of many. Seeing how much people’s’ thoughts and behaviors can be influenced based on the electrical documentation of what may be but also what may not be. I thought of places such as LA, NYC, MIA and ATL and how lives promoted through social media can make so many people think that it a reality that they should try to obtain. Somehow a picture or a minute long video with a high count of likes and comment gained equivalence to something like a impactful individual in real life.

In my personal experiences, I consciously avoid giving social media power to determine an individual’s perceived personhood, especially if I have not meet and had a chance to know who that person is for myself. I really use it for memes, funny videos, and sometimes for motivational purposes. So I do not post much often when it comes to things that i do, accomplish or even going through. So for me what people see or like of me in regards to the things I post doesn’t really touch a spot for me.

My response to the narrative of the movie is while understanding it current relevance, I feel like it is very accurate. Yes, the general motive behind searching for likes are for momentary pleasure, it has become to large that social media itself can move you up economical classes.

Data was such a unique character to me. If he was just a regular human made robot then he would’ve failed in season one. His kindness, innocence, and compassion were his defining characteristics. In almost every way that mattered, he was one of the most human characters on this show lol.

Data’s also basically as human as can be with a perfect memory, so the need for procreation feels almost irrelevant if you think about it. Yet, Data was a remarkably good parent. He was attentive, endlessly patient, informative, and never embarrassed or humiliated by the ridiculous actions of his daughter.

Lal was such a lovely character too. While clearly a robot she possessed characteristics that are also very human at the same time. Her struggles to learn and experience the new world around her were mostly painted with broad strokes, but there was enough in those moments to highlight the important stuff. Like what it meant to Data to emulate humanity, and the isolation and otherness inherent in their existence. Each scene established her presence in Data’s life, and among the crew, making the audience care for her more and more as well, to the point where I didn’t want her to go.

In a big picture her death was very sad. Her final moments, feeling emotion and unable to process them, were simply beautiful. Making her as human as possible because similarly, when we have to deal with emotions we do not know how to handle, we too are unable to process it.
