Two faces of the same person, one very akwardOur rhetorical analysis can make us see the same person in VERY different manners. We have many good reasons to judge a book by it’s cover when the book gets to choose it’s cover for itself.

My relationship with technology is a mixed bag. Sometimes I find it fascinating, allowing me to navigate the world with ease. Most of the time I feel behind and frustrated as technology more so then ever moves at a rapid pace. Every day it seems more difficult to stay up on the trends of technology today. I think the older you get the less you can digest. Sometimes I can even feel intimidated. Like most people though I struggle up front and once I gain confidence I excel. I love my iPhone and the convenience it offers but get irate with constant updates and often feel my phone runs more clunky after I accept them. My real challenge is desk tops. When I was younger, and computers were becoming a house hold item I ate them up. I soaked up all the information I could and believe I was far ahead of the average person in this regard. Although youth do hold an advantage in their technological retention, I feel over the years I have strayed from the well, like most. Whenever I am in a computer heavy class, I feel panicked and unsure of myself. The GIF I have created shows the frustration I find myself dealing with when faced with technology these days.

Finishing the reading Backpacks vs. Brief cases,  I think the rhetoric explain most of our action and the view of other in the society. For example, parent want their child to get better education and tell them that better education will give them better opportunity and jobs. Which is the idea of logic and emotion that most parent put on their child. The idea that religious people spread out and the new article that spread idea is also part of rhetoric which is the logic and reason. Each person also have their rhetoric toward the event or things that happen around when they are facing it, such as when two of my friend asking me to help, I will chose one that I feel good about and helping that one first which is the emotion leading for the action to take place. For must people, we trying to do things according to our feeling but we might not realize that it is some how related to the rhetoric that we talk in the English class. The emotion which is including in the rhetoric, which I think as human being we can never escape from having emotion. In other word, we are using rhetoric every moment, even include the time you feel depress about the event that happen around you or all the emotion that you keep it to yourself and thinking that no one will ever understand you. Thinking about the crying voice from the baby, think about the laughing voice when you grow up watching cartoon, thinking about the disappointment when you making your parent mad and everything that happen around us. It is all related to rhetoric in my opinion, we never know that rhetoric is not only using in the speech, writing but it always exist as part of our life and society.

what was your experience watching this episode like? how did you connect your personal experience with social media and community both in-person and online? what are your emotional responses to the narrative in the episode

While watching this episode of ‘ Black Mirror’ I started to develop goosebumps as I was fearing what might occur in the future. Technology is taking control of everything and how we come to perceive our peers and this can cause a lot of obstruction since we carry social media with us nowadays. On social media platforms, we depict a rather ‘ happy’ version of ourselves to the public while hiding our true identity and self. In this episode of Black Mirror, we can see how the protagonist carries herself based on her reputation and she heavily values other peoples ratings and opinions on every task she performs. I can connect to the protagonist in this scenario because when I first got Instagram, I also wanted to flex publicly and follow the persona of always being that sort of person. Its scary because this was altering my identity and the principles embedded in my since childhood. I also liked receiving comments and opinions of others based on my style of clothing or the actions I conduct. As a result, I made a resolution to limit myself on social media platforms like Instagram so I can connect with the real world.
