QianXing’s Reflection 2

Posted by QianXing Ou on

The main thing that I learned for this lab report is that the ability of explaining a list of process clearly.  Before doing this project, I have trouble explaining things and dividing them into smaller categories. Because of that when I am trying to write out steps, a lot of people do not understand what I meant. After this project, I have learned to break down things one by one and make sentences simpler, so more people will understand my ideas. In addition, not only I learned to break down things, I also learned some key components of writing this kind of report, such as bolded the key terms and provided an explanation for each of them.

One thing that I did well on this project is that my steps are easy to understand and easy to follow. When I was trying to write my steps, I reread it many times to make sure myself, the writer understand what I wrote. Also, I tried to use simple words and simple sentences, so it is easier for people to understand.  Also, while I am doing the project, I read through the textbook and take out some of the useful tips that I can use for my own project. Additionally, in case of confusion, I bolded the key terms and every key terms is following by a description behind it. In this way, reader can follow my steps clearly, and I also provided a diagram with list of the key terms on it.

One thing I need to improve on is I have trouble finding a good diagram for the reader. Even though the diagram that I had right now is fine, it is too small, and the reader need to take a deep look in order to see what’s written on the diagram. However, no one really have time for that. Also, I have trouble controlling the length of my report. Dividing a lot of research into smaller categories is always my weakness. I have tried my best to make a reasonable length that is not too long or not too short. But I don’t think it is perfect.

For this project, I think I should get a 97. First of all, even though my project doesn’t look too long, I spend like at least 6-8 hours into this. I don’t really have time to talk about every components that a car has, so I have to do research first before doing my report to see which parts of the car is the most important among the all and which parts of the car has enough details to make reader understand what’s going on. Then after I have chosen a topic, I need to do research, and I do a lot of research in it. I have to make sure does that research make sense, I have to make sure that my research is true.  Lastly, broken down ideas is never my strengths, so I need to spend a lot of time in it, and I have to read it and rewrite it over and over again to make sure everything goes well. Lasly, I spend a lot of time on writing this reflection. I tried my best to reflect what I did well and what I needed to improve.

Kayla’s Technical Description Reflection

Posted by Kayla Ye on

If I were to be able to do this technical description again, I probably would’ve done it in a different format. I think that just writing it out and submitting it in the form of a word document is kind of boring in a way. I originally wanted to do this description using a booklet kind of template. It would’ve been a easier and more fun way to present the pictures rather than just having them within the paragraphs. However because I did this through Microsoft Word, when I uploaded the booklet to Google Drive, some of the images don’t line up correctly so I had to scarp that idea.

I remember struggling with the organization of the writing. I didn’t know which information had priority in explaining my system because everything seemed to blend in. I wanted to section them off by function but they often went in circles. Overcoming this however, to a certain extent, I think I wrote the description well but seemed slightly short in word count, which bothers me slightly. I think the images I used were correctly corresponded with the subsection I worked on. Unlike the lab report project, I think I did better this time because the topic was easier. By that, I mean that for this project, there weren’t much terms that were specific to this one machine, the holodeck. In simpler terms, this project contained much more everyday terms rather than subject specific terms. Because of this, I didnt struggle as much while writing this in comparison to the first paper.

FINAL GRADE: 95

Reflection #2

On my second project, I wrote about the technical description about graphics card – types, ports and functions. I think I did slightly better in this one than the last lab report, because it’s much easier to get the information about graphics card on difference source websites than testing the results by myself. In this project, I did lots of research on each type of video cards, and clearly stated it on my paper with pictures, I think I deserve 96 on this project.

Project #2 Reflection

I think that I did well on project number two because I was able to meet all the requirements for the task and more. I think I did well describe the mouse and its functions. I thought I would take it one step further and see if I could include some visual as to better clarify my description and label the parts of a wireless mouse as well. This was what made my project stand out and clearer to the reader. I also thought about if I needed to include some background information that was needed to better help the reader understand where the mouse came from and why it is used today. So, it can be said that I was pretty good being able make my writing as clear as possible. I struggled with finding good images to show each part of the wireless mouse. To overcome this, I realized that I had my own mouse that was wireless, and I took pictures of that to show the different parts of a wireless mouse. With all this in mind I think my paper is worth a grade of 98.

Jaspreet Jaswal Reflection #2

Throughout the second project, I feel as if I did an ok job in terms of describing my item. My item , known as Runite blade, pertained to the game League of Legends in which multiple players verse each other using their own champion. Initially, I described my object to be something as rough since the sword Riven carries is broken. The Sword however revives into a full blade when the ultimate is activated and I also described the transition to how the sword went from a rough texture to a smooth texture with a sharp peak when the special is activated. In terms of describing how much damage the sword is able to conduct, I feel as if I also did a good job explaining how various inventory items can boost up the attack damage of the sword. Overall, I feel I did a good job conveying my audience the purpose of Riven’s sword and it’s attributes. I think I deserve a grade of 97 on this because I feel like I hit the main points, but for some reason I feel as if I missed some small points as there is not much description about the sword online.
