Project #3 Reflection

For project 3 we were assigned to do a proposal upon request by someone. My team was asked to propose a building design for a Tech company. We worked together to come up with a solid blueprint with the help of our fellow civil engineer, Hakeem. He was able to make a blueprint that showed the building in its entirety. We gave him feedback and made minor changes to the blueprint. This allowed us to work as a team. I oversaw making sure that all the tech rooms were in the right area and not so accessible to the normal employ as well as have enough room for expansion of the tech room. I was also in charge of being able to do some part of the power point presentation that we presented to the board to show what our proposal was to what the tech company wanted. As a group we did well in communication. We were able to make a group chat and split up the work evenly which allowed us to work efficiently. I would like it if we asked each other more questions to get clarification on each other parts. However, all in all, we did well, and I would give my group a 95 because we worked well together and there was good communication between everyone. We also were able to give a good presentation that had a ton of detail in terms of what we wanted to do in terms of building and lay out of the of the build.

At this point we have completed the proposial and are working  to complete the powerpoint and spliting up the parts of the presentation so that we all get a chance to speak. We also took some time to see if we can answer some mock questions that we prepared in advance so that we know that if we were asked some questions we would be able to answer them on the spot without freezing. I also hope that we are able to get alot of the work done today so that we dont have to stress about it later on.

We have completed the proposial for the group project and have moved onto  doing the presentation. We had decided on the design for the building that we wanted to build. We had so many ideas on what to do for the design, but we decided making the space open as possible with a lot space for creative thinking space. We split up the work for the powerpoint and decided to meet up before class to rehearse our roles.

This meme shows how one day there will be a place where AI robots will coexist with humans and they will have relationships with humans, and this can cause many problems socially. People might not be willing to accept you for having an AI has a partner or a spouse. Other problems that can arise is that AI robots are just machines and they don’t lack the same emotions that a person does, so this brings up the notion if their emotions are real or just made up from what they have seen around them and experienced. This can be seen in the movie “Her” were the AI was able to learn about emotions and love through the interactions with humans. At the end we find out that the AI wasn’t really in love because you can’t be in love with more than one person at a time and expect the other person to be okay with that. AI are one day going to take over the world and cause the downfall for humans. Today, technology is advancing at an exponential rate and it isn’t stopping any time soon. We already have ways to program AI’s to be able to recognize voice patterns and copy them exactly. This is one of the many ways that technology has advanced from a decade ago were going onto the internet required you to have a phone line and only one person at a time can be on the line, either calling or using the internet.

When watching Her, at first, I was confused as to what was happening as I am usually like when watching any movie. It took me some time to realize that this person lost his wife to a divorce and that he has found love with an artificial intelligence. It has always come across my mind that can a human being ever fall in love with an artificial intelligence. I have come across many stories online of people getting married to their cars and other materialistic objects. What I learned from a movie is that falling in love with someone is easy but letting them go once you’re in love with them is hard and can destroy a person. It can leave them in a bad mental state where they feel like their life has ended and that they will never find anyone else. At the end of the day though I still don’t trust artificial intelligence as they might be the reason to the end of humans. They will outsmart humans and dominate the world.

I think that I did well on project number two because I was able to meet all the requirements for the task and more. I think I did well describe the mouse and its functions. I thought I would take it one step further and see if I could include some visual as to better clarify my description and label the parts of a wireless mouse as well. This was what made my project stand out and clearer to the reader. I also thought about if I needed to include some background information that was needed to better help the reader understand where the mouse came from and why it is used today. So, it can be said that I was pretty good being able make my writing as clear as possible. I struggled with finding good images to show each part of the wireless mouse. To overcome this, I realized that I had my own mouse that was wireless, and I took pictures of that to show the different parts of a wireless mouse. With all this in mind I think my paper is worth a grade of 98.

So last semester I was given a assignment to choice a social issue and write about it. I was given the option on what would be the focus of my essay, which was a research paper. So, I choice the social issue of air pollution in China and focused on a particle in the air that was able to be breathed into from the air and cause lung damage. I first started off with the type of genre that I wanted to put my research paper in, but before I do that, I needed to know who my audience was. I choice my audience to be middle age work class citizens of China. The reason for this was because they were the ones that were greatly affected by it and had some voice in the government. This also caused me to think were they would most likely read about this and that gave me the idea of putting this on a newspaper in the form of an article with pictures. This way they can read it while going to work in the morning. I was able to create a good thought process using rhetorical analysis and this helped me to get started on a solid foundation. Before all this, I had to find articles that support my claim and viewpoint. So, I had to rhetorically analyses about 7 to 10 articles that support my claim and see if they matched in terms of what my audience was and if my audience would be able to understand what I was citing from my resources. I made a chart of who the audience was, where and when was it written, to see how reliable the data is. All these and more gave me a good idea of how to begin my research paper and how much background info is needed so that I can get my message to the audience in a clear and precise manner.

I have heard of rhetorical situation before in my freshman English class that I took last semester

Al of these terms are familiar to me, but I still don’t have a good grasp on exigence. This was explained to me during the first semester, but I didn’t quite get it.

All these aspects of the rhetorical context I have used in more than one piece of writing and that can be viewed on my website which has all my writing from last semester.

There are different ways to showcase these rhetorical contexts. For example, in the form of a ad, newspaper article.

I was able to relate to this article as I have gone through similar thought processes when writing.

I also was able to better organize my ideas with he rhetorical situation and made my writing for readable and fluent in transitions between ideas.

My experience watching these videos gave me some insight of what the future could look like. How we can live in a virtual world after death with just our memories. They also made me think of how our privacy is invaded completely and everyone can have access to our thoughts and memories. This can be dangerous when in the hands of someone that can-do harm. These also reminded me of personal experience that I had in the pass that I would like to remember in detail as suppose to a blurry memory of it. This also reminded me of how if you want you might be able to share all your thoughts through social media and that can be dangerous because what if you show videos that can cause other people to expose. There are positives and negatives to the technology that was shown in the shows. They can either be used for good or evil and that is all up to the user. This also makes me think how these technologies are being regulated and how the government can use this technology to spy on others. If these technologies ever do become a reality it can change how we do things in our lifestyle. Relationships will change in the fact that no one will trust you without seeing the video to prove it. This is not something that someone wants to happen. We should be able to trust our friends and loved ones without looking at videos of them showing their whole day to day life.

Yorkie doesn’t look like the type to party as she is wearing regular clothes to a club

I can relate to her because I don’t like to dance, and I don’t drink

She seems out of place at the club

At first, I was very really confused as to what was going on but then I realized the meaning behind it

This show showed how it would be like to live in a virtual world after you pass away with other people’s minds as well

I also saw some form of LGBT presence in the movie that both characters were attracted to each other and they both were females.

I see this as the future of what is possible as technology has advance so much over the years.

We will one day be able to tap into someone’s memories through neural connection and this can be either a good thing or a invasion of privacy.

I really like this episode of black mirror because I can relate to how the characters at the beginning are trying to figure out who they are and were in the world they fit in.

If people were able to look into video surveillance of everything that we were doing that would be invasion of privacy

This looking into other people minds is also a safe way to see if someone is safe or dangerous as it will reveal everything they have been doing for the past days, months etc.

I find it useful that you can look back memories of the past and this can be helpful in terms of like college and remembering a loved one that has passed away.
