TOPIC/ PRODUCT: Headphones

NAME OF PRODUCT:

DESCRIPTION/ PURPOSE: We’ve all heard of AirPods, Apple’s version of wireless earphones released back in 2016. Since then, people of all ages use them from middle schoolers to people in retirement homes, in hopes of looking for some peace. One must admit, the Airpods were a great idea and the society believed so too, seeing that since then more and more companies released earphones that are similar in design. However, if you have ever actually used Airpods or have known someone who does, you’ve probably heard of people often losing them. The wireless design makes it that these earphones are often easily lost when dropped.

The BCE – Button Cell Earphone is what’s going to pushed Airpods out of existence. Named after the button cell battery who we used as a model for design for these earphones. In simpler terms, the earphone has two parts. One part is the earphone itself. It’s small enough to fit inside the outer-part of the ear canal. The other part however is not another earpiece, it goes on the wrist. There is only one earpiece and it allows for the user to hear the music in both ears.

Reflection #2/Reflection #2

Kayla’s Technical Description Reflection

Posted by Kayla Ye on

If I were to be able to do this technical description again, I probably would’ve done it in a different format. I think that just writing it out and submitting it in the form of a word document is kind of boring in a way. I originally wanted to do this description using a booklet kind of template. It would’ve been a easier and more fun way to present the pictures rather than just having them within the paragraphs. However because I did this through Microsoft Word, when I uploaded the booklet to Google Drive, some of the images don’t line up correctly so I had to scarp that idea.

I remember struggling with the organization of the writing. I didn’t know which information had priority in explaining my system because everything seemed to blend in. I wanted to section them off by function but they often went in circles. Overcoming this however, to a certain extent, I think I wrote the description well but seemed slightly short in word count, which bothers me slightly. I think the images I used were correctly corresponded with the subsection I worked on. Unlike the lab report project, I think I did better this time because the topic was easier. By that, I mean that for this project, there weren’t much terms that were specific to this one machine, the holodeck. In simpler terms, this project contained much more everyday terms rather than subject specific terms. Because of this, I didnt struggle as much while writing this in comparison to the first paper.

decision meme that says "text friend from the comfort of my own bed" or :go out and meet her face to face"

What technology means to me

I think this meme accurately represents my relationship between technology and myself. This is because in my opinion, technology attempts to make everything easier for people therefore inadvertently making everyone lazy by nature. There are times where me and my friend both arent doing anything and we could go out and enjoy the weather and talk to each other face to face but instead we sit at home, in our beds and just text each other. Technology makes everything easier, in this case communicating with my friends, but lowers the frequency of meeting people outside of the touchscreen.

Kayla’s Week 9 Response

It wasnt until after reading Carroll’s piece on rhetorical analysis that in fact, the process is just like when I meet someone for the first time and give them a “judgement”. What I mean by this is how everyone judges everyone else based on the first few seconds they see them. Drawing conclusions from what they wear, what they look like, how they present themsleves, etc. When I first met one of my best friends years ago, I remember the conclusions I drew about her. Before she even talked to me, I knew who she was. I knew her name and that she was someone who knew a lot of people, in my words “one of the popular kids”. I remember seeing her always talking to the teacher at the time and always being the first to volunteer when the teacher needed something to be done. She always talked to everyone in class. Always had makeup on, hair down, presented herself nicely. I always thought she would only talk to me if she needed something from me or if we were inconveniently grouped together. I immediately thought that she was nothing like me- she was always loud and outgoing, I was the one who sat in the back of the classroom silently observing. I wasn’t purposely trying to judge her by just having seen her a few times around the class but it’s just human nature. Its a way for us to learn who we need to stay away from just to live life a little better, a little safer.
