This article is trying to inform the reader of this area in Africa that has not been interfered by humans. The use pictures to show the different species that they have found and help the reader to better get an idea of the type of animals that the scientist encountered in the forest. It can also be said that the intent of the article was to encourage the young to protect special places like these ones that are not harmed by humans. The visual images also give the reader an understanding of how steep the mountain is and how remote it is. This will help the reader to better understand why no one has ever gone to even go up there. They also show potential animals that can be new species that the scientist has discovered and help the reader have a visual of the animals that live in the area. The images convey to the primary message, this place has been out of touch with the rest of the world and we should make efforts to protect these places against people. This images shows what life that lives in this area and through the appeal to emotion, seeing all these nice animals living in the forest, we shouldn’t bother them and leave them alone. Also, the image of the how the mountain was formed is a good visual way to help the reader better understand what erosion can do on a great scale. It clearly is also described in the captions with the images as to how over time what erosion has done to that area and has change the geography of the area.

The authors main point was to shed light on the history of how rhetorics came to be about and how to use them in writing through examples in the comic. I see that the author shows that during the early times, people didnt really like the thought of rhetoric and didnt embrace it till Aristotle. This leads into the main point that rhetoric has been around for many centuries and has always been part of writing. Another main point that was seen in the comic was that to be effective at writing one must have three componenets. These components are ethos, pathos, and logos. I agree with this claim becuase I have written with these components last semester in my freshman english class. This can go to shows that I used these three components of writing without even knowing the name of them. This goes to show that rhetoric has been around for many generations and that we always use it involuntarly when we write. Another point made by the author is Karios. Karios is the timing of your writing. The author makes the point that we should make sure that our writing isnt rushed or else it might not come out as well as we would expect it to. I agree with this in that I have written essay the night before the due date and things recieved a decent grade. However, when you plan out your writing and organize all your ideas on paper, things become easier and the ideas flows easily on the paper and the result is better than something that was rushed. Documenting our work is also important because it allows us to get back to our work later on and make sure that we didnt miss anything if we kept on writing. This is another point that was made in the labor log. It is always a good idea to evaluate yourself and this way you can catch your mistakes faster.

this comic was very interesting in the way that they put the ideas rhetoric into comic form

I was able to understand rhetoric better through this comic because it gave visual to looks at as well as examples to explain each rhetorical element

ethos

the credibility of  the author and what they say. To see if they what they are saying can be believed

pathos

the use of emotion in debates or argument

logos

the appeal to reason

kairos I am still a little confused about

I was questioning how rhetoric’s connect to engineering and how to use rhetoric’s in my writing

this reading reminds of me of the assignments that i did last semester in freshman English and how the things i learned about the rhetorical situation relates to this

I look back at my essay from last semester and I see how I used pathos in my political cartoon. i appealed to the emotion of the reader. Keep in mind to use my writing from last semester as reference for this course if possible
