Black Mirror Season 3 Episode 6: San Junipero and Black Mirror Season1:Episode3: The Entire History of You was related to the relationship between humans and technology. It focusses primarily on how technology has become the central part of the human- life and what potential harmful impact can it cause due to the over-use of those high-tech products. I believe that through those technologies we have access to all world’s information and people’s profile at any time which sounds like an amazing accomplishment but in reality, the world is growing further apart because though peoples are connected together by the social media, there is no bond between them. In my personal experience, I used to have many close friends in my home country with whom I used to spend most of the time hanging together, exploring new places, sharing our difficulties and helping each other in every situation. But once I shifted to the US for higher education, I felt like though we are connected through social media and video communication app, the friendship we used to have before is gradually degrading. This shows how the relationship changes when we are connected online instead of in-person. In the Black Mirror episode “San Junipero” and “The Entire History of You”, a small device attached to head stored all the past memories and we could rewind and analyze every past event. In such an environment, it is very difficult to live a real life because even a single mistake can ruin a whole life. People are faking their natural behavior and are paying attention to every detail. This technology had negatively impacted everyone’s life and Liam was one of them. At the end, he realized that he was happier when he had not used such technology and was living his present, so he finally decides to remove the chip from his head.

The Black Mirror episode “Nosedive” was about the society where people rate each other for every interaction. Lacie was the center character of this episode, who was very conscious about her rating and wanted to prove herself on the top. She was not living her natural life. She was faking on everything for example, on having a conversation, eating food, walking on the street, dressing style and so on. Throughout the episode, she ran before rating but at the end, she realized that it is not the rating that matters in life. This episode resembles today’s society in certain ways because in our real society too people are being rated based on their profession and behavior. Every person has their unique thoughts and way of living. Some people might be highly successful while some might be still struggling and trying hard to be successful. The quality of life for poor people might be different because of their financial condition but the basic things that are in common with them are happiness and satisfaction. But nowadays, the definition of happiness and satisfaction has changed in our society. They focus on physical happiness rather than mental happiness. It is important to realize that physical happiness is temporary while mental happiness is permanent. People try to imitate the lifestyle of rich people and are living a fake life. For example, we can see that most of the people nowadays are using social media such as Facebook and Instagram as a platform to show off. They are more aware of how other people will judge them. And the sad part is that people are judging just by looking the post on Instagram or Facebook. People should be judged based on their behavior and nature not based on their physical appearance or lifestyle. I also believe that rating should be done for the object and devices but not for the people.

My experiment is about the colligative properties of the solution. This experiment was performed in college Chemistry-Lab with the help of the Lab instructor and my colleagues. In this lab report, I have followed the APA format where Abstract, Introduction, Procedure, Calculation, Results, and Conclusion are well explained and made as simplest as possible to make it understandable for all readers. I choose this experiment for the lab report because this topic is quite technical and fascinating.
Though all the necessary information and data are included in this report, there are still few things where I can improve. Firstly, the use of a graph to display the data obtained from the experiment would be more effective than just mentioning them on the table. Secondly, I have used three sources to explain the theoretical part but instead, I could have used more sources which would certainly help the reader to understand the material clearly. And lastly, use of pictures explaining the procedure would have made the report more understandable.
If I was given second chance to revise my lab report then I would still stick with the same topic but would have used graph, pictures and more sources to make the report more informative and effective.
Results and Conclusion are always a difficult part in any Lab report because its not always true that the experiment we performed will always give positive results. There could also be some errors either experimental or by human . In such cases, how we explain the result and conclude the whole experiment plays a significant role. Thus, in this experiment too, there were certain errors and explaining the exact errors and its consequences on the final result of lab report was quite challenging.
This experiment as a whole was a result-oriented experiment. There were total three sets of an experiment performed. In the first experiment, we could clearly observe the osmosis phenomenon. In the second and third we calculated the values of freezing point depression and boiling point elevation respectively which were close to the expected theoretical value. So, I think obtaining the expected result is the super good aspect of this experiment. Being just specific to the lab report, procedure and calculations are super good aspect because they are self- explanatory.
Despite putting all your hard work and effort there always remains some factors that prevent us from being perfect. These factors in some way are helping us to do better and improve our-self and move towards perfection. Thus, if I had to grade my paper, I would rate it 9/10. I think I deserve this because I had followed all the criteria required for any scientific lab report and more importantly, I had done a lot of research about this subject so that I could provide the detail information about the experiment.

Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 3 Episode 16, “The Offspring” was one of the best episodes I had watched so far. This episode was mainly about Lal, daughter of Data. Data, who itself was an android created a robot which was identical to him in term of memory, capacity, and power. Data considered himself as a father of Lal. He allowed Lal to choose her sexuality, where Lal chooses to be a girl. Though Lal had a positronic brain, she was curious to know about everything just like the human baby. Data really did a good job in guiding her to get socialized and learn new things. She was kept in a bar as a waiter so that she could understand human behaviors and habits. Captain Picard was initially unhappy with the Data’s experiment, but later Data was able to convince him. Admiral from Star Fleet wanted to take her away so that she could get more exposure, but Data strongly refused his proposal. As a result, Admiral decided to meet them in person and evaluating her progress, he would make a final decision. He was initially not that impressed but at the end, seeing the bond between Data and Lal, he got emotional and felt sorry for his action. Lal, knowing that she will be separated from his father gets an emotion of fear. This created a permanent neural disorder in her system which was almost impossible to fix. So, she had to be deactivated. It was so heartbreaking for everyone in a starship.
In this episode, we can see that Data created Lal to continue his species in the Star ship. I don’t think allowing robots to recreate their own species is a good decision. Robots are made to ease the human activities. So, these creatures should be totally under human control because they are more accurate and powerful than humans. If they are allowed to make their own decision, then we cannot say that one day they won’t use the same tool to rule over humans. Being specific to my field of study, the computer plays a vital role. I cannot imagine my work without a computer because all of designing, creating and editing works are done in computers but it does not mean that I should be replaced by a computer. Use of Computers/ Technology should be bounded under certain limits.

The movie Ex Machina was so powerful, which made me think for a second about the future of today’s world. Briefly discussing the movie, Nathan, Caleb, and Ava were the center characters. Nathan owned the company called Blue Book where Caleb works as an employee. Caleb was selected for Nathans Experiment where he had to perform a “Turning test” for a week. Nathans experiment was about the implication of Artificial Intelligence on the human looking machines, robots. He had created lots of robots, but he wanted to make a test on Ava, one of his experiment. Caleb was requested to communicate with Ava and analyze her mentally and emotionally whether she finds herself limited as a machine. Ava, despite being a machine had feelings, emotion, and sexuality and with the intention to manipulate him, showed him some love and affection. She even tried to flirt with him and made him against Nathan. During the time, she had also developed a skill to make “power cuts”, so that she could keep their conversation secret. But in the end, it was found that she was just finding a way to escape. Caleb thought that Nathan was doing wrong by isolating them from the outer world and tried to help them escape but, I think Nathan previously knew what could happen if they are freed. So, in the end, when he knew they are going to escape, he completely destroyed one of the robots and damaged Ava’s right hand.
In today’s world, the use of AI has increased rapidly. People like to use AI technology in Bank, Business, and in almost every field for their profit. In some case, it had been found fruitful too, such as in healthcare. But if this powerful tool is not handed carefully then this best tool can be the worst. From this movie, we realized how technology can take over human abilities and go beyond their control.
